| Happy New Year!
Okay, so the show sucked. See Marty's analyses. Of course, he's being generous in not pointing fingers, but that's the basics. Maybe if there's a next time (certainly not soon, at least not with me in the lineup) we'll just invite everyone to our practice so you can hear us while we're still fresh, before all those performance snafus come around.
Also, for those of you who donated, we decided to put all the money into the Red Cross, so feel free to feel warm and fuzzy. You do know about the tsunami, right?
Anyway I really really promise a more personal update soon. It'll go by every single day while I was down in GeorgiaTech, and it will be about four hundred pages of minutiae. Then again, that could be another one of those horrendous lies that I've become fond of writing.
I leave Tuesday night. Andrea, you and I are getting ice cream before then. Or else. | comments: 6 comments or Leave a comment |

| Holy cow. It's been a long time since I've updated.
Sorry about that.
I really promise this time that I'll make a real update soon (all my other promises were lies).
But, the news that I wanted to spread was this:
The Bourgeois Homeless will be playing on Thursday the 30th at 8pm at Sammy's Pizza
I leave Alaska again on the night of the 4th, so there aren't a lot of
other chances to see me (or us as a band). Be there or be square, and
spread the word!
Oh yeah...and I'm back in Alaska, in case you haven't picked up on that yet ;-)
Spread the word, and I hope to see you all there.

It's been two months!
I'm waiting for the appropriate moment of epiphany, when I have some sort of exciting news to reveal, something that's relevant to you guys...like announcing that I have tickets to go to Alaska from Dec. 11th through Jan. 5th!
A more comprehensive update is pending.
Sorry for not updating in eternity2

| Sorry I haven't updated in forever, things are just now settling down into a temporary lull.
I've been in Atlanta since last Thursday; the first few days my mom and dad and I basically walked around and checked out the city. That Friday we went to an insanely huge rock show with something like ten thousand people...very cool. Starting Tuesday things got pretty hectic. I moved into my dorm room on Tuesday, and spent the night here. Wednesday, from 7:15am to 12:00am (midnight, for the easily confused) was FASET Orientation, which is basically a ton of info sessions and ice-breakers, with the students separated from the parents. It was actually pretty good, lots of good things to know, it was good to meet people and have the chance to walk around campus without aimlessly ambling around.
Thursday I registered for classes. I'm taking:
- Computer Science | CS 1371
- Calculus I or II (haven't decided yet) | MATH 1501 or 1502
- General Chemistry | CHEM 1310
- Intro to German | GRMN 1001
- Freshman Seminar | GT 10000
All my classes (with the exception of Chem on Thursday) go between 1pm and 6pm...that's good because I get long mornings and most of my evening's free to study, but since all the classes are sqished together, I don't have a whole lot of time (ten minutes) to go from building to building across campus...I'm going to have to do a lot of bookladen running. Oh well.
Everybody I've met here has been really cool. Everyone's very polite, and either as intelligent as I am (not many) or more intelligent than I am (many). It's a little bit intimidating, but I've found that people here don't tend to have huge egos, so it's not that big of a deal.
Good news! This year's freshmen class has a record 35% girls, more than any other in GeorgiaTech history! There are a lot of really good looking girls, and of course they're all smart. Unfortunately, there are a lot of good looking smart guys here, too, so I'm not very optimistic. It would be nice to get a steady girlfriend, since I'm going to be going to this school for four or five years. Unfortunately, that's something I haven't done in forever.
I've met quite a few girls, but it just feels weird approaching girls when you have nothing in common; classes haven't started, so there's not a whole lot base conversation off of. Whatever, I've found that being bold and outgoing is a plus, since there are a lot of shy people here. I'll manage.
Any of you girls/guys have advice as far as approaching people you've never met before? Not cheesy pickup lines that mark me as a sleazy creep, easy ways to just start conversations?
I'm going to another rock show tonight, probably with some friends.
My parents just left for the airport about 45 mintues ago. I'll update again!
By the way, my contact info again (and I would love to here from all of you; letters, e-mails, phone calls, whatever):

| Isn't this great news? Scot, our bass player decided that this was a good time to take a trip to Seward.
The show is still going forward, but there's going to be a lot of new material (as in made up before the show) going on, and we're all going to have to learn new parts. We have to change all our music for a three-piece set rather than four.
But, this means that the show is going to be that much more interesting and unique; don't miss it.
I don't know what we're going to do with 'Creature Marie'; it's one of my favorite songs, but Scot sings it and none of us know exactly what he's singing. We'll either rewrite or drop it.
Lots of work ahead tomorrow, anyway :)
Anyway, thought I'd post that little tidbit of collector's-item worthy trivia, because the show's still going to be great. Remember to spread the word!

| The show's happening!
8pm at Sammy's Pizza in the Cottonwood Creek Mall on Tuesday the 3rd; the Bourgeois Homeless
Spread the word, it's very possibly our last show (unless we manage to get together again if I ever come back to Alaska)...be there!
I'm leaving the day after that, so it might very well be everyone's last day to see me.
I really hope to see lots of people there!
I'll work on a flyer, too; I'll post it and e-mail it when it's ready. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Ugh, it's been forever and a half since I've updated my livejournal. Apologies to all my avid readers (sarcasm).
This past week I pretty much just wallowed about with a sore throat, nothing of much import; I've been working on getting stuff ready to pack and bring down to Georgia, and a few other preparations as well. The past four days have been devoted finding a laptop for college, and that's done now...it is a nice laptop; we bought it on Monday at Best Buy: 3.2 Ghz, 512 Mb of RAM, 80 Gb hard drive, 64 Mb GeForce FX graphics card, a DVD-RW/CD-RW combo drive, a 17" widescreen display (huge), and a few other extras...I also have a wireless/optical mouse for it, a USB numberpad for school so I can type numbers quickly, a printer, a 246 Mb USB flash drive, and a laptop lock. I'm getting a laptop case/backpack thing tomorrow. I've been spending the past day and a half getting all my stuff transferred from the old computers on to this one and installing all the software I'm going to need or want...as of now, I'm taking up 50 of the 80 Gb on the hard drive; hopefully I'm not going to run out too soon. I'm very pleased with this computer, however. VERY pleased.
I leave in one week. I called Sammy today to see what was up with the show next week, he said he'd completely forgotten about it, so now I have to call him back tomorrow to get it finallized, which sucks because that means we're going to have that much less time to get the word out. I'm pretty sure it'll all be okay, though. I'll make up and send out a flyer tomorrow if it's a go, which I'm optimistic about.
Also tomorrow I plan to hang out with Andrea, which I'm looking forward to (she's my favorite, along with Rae of course), and I'm going hiking up Lazy with Walter this Friday. And then my garage sale will be Saturday, unless I get lazy and don't do it... *cough*
I got my new glasses last Monday, too; they're pretty swell. Similar to my last ones, except a little slimmer and they're black.
I also got a haircut today, since I'm not likely to get it cut in a long time.
My dad comes back this Saturday...grr. I have to learn the entirety of Stairway to Heaven for my dad so I can officially take ownership of the acoustic guitar.
That about sums up my ramblings, I'll post tomorrow about the show. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
